BLM geothermal lease sale July 14, 2009 – details provided

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) divisions for Nevada, California and Utah will host a competitive lease sale on July 14 at the BLM office in Reno for geothermal acreage in the three states, further details provided.

“Nevada will offer 112 parcels of land containing a total of 337,313.917 acres. Acreage available for bidding lies in the counties of Washoe, Churchill, Pershing, Humboldt, Mineral, Nye, Esmeralda, Lander, Eureka, White Pine and Elko.

In California, parcels of land are being offered for leasing in Sonoma County in northern California. These parcels of land, which are not in a block, contain approximately 948.93 acres, 1,541.87 acres, and 1,229.05 acres each.

Lands in a block being offered for geothermal leasing in California include Truckhaven North and Truckhaven South blocks, located in Imperial County in far southeast California.  Truckhaven North contains seven 640-acre parcels of land. Truckhaven South contains four 640-acre parcels and one parcel containing 639.2 acres.

In Iron County in southwest Utah, 228.04 acres is being offered for geothermal leasing.
A lease issued as a result of this sale will have a primary term of 10 years, unless otherwise extended. The annual rental is US$2/acre for the first year, paid to BLM, and US$3/acre for the second through tenth year paid to the U.S. Minerals Management Service. After the tenth year, annual rent would be US$5/acre.”
