Icelandic International Development Agency (ICEIDA) and Iceland GeoSurvey (ISOR) signed an agreement under which ISOR will provide geothermal engineering support to the geothermal sector in NIcaragua from 2009 until 2012.

According to Icelandic media an agreement was reached between the Icelandic International Development Agency (ICEIDA) and Iceland GeoSurvey (ISOR) under which ISOR will provide geothermal engineering support to the geothermal sector in NIcaragua from 2009 until 2012.

ISOR, in cooperation with Icelandic engineering firms Mannvit and Verkis, recently opened an office in Chile to serve the South American market. The company founded by all three players is called GeothermHydro and is based in Santiage de Chile.

This work is part of development work by Icelanders in cooperation with the local government to build up experience and knowledge in the utilization of geothermal energy.

This agreement comes despite Iceland having closed its embassy and office of ICEIDA based on the financial difficulties that Iceland faces.
