Oregon receiving US$40 in DOE funding round
written by: lxrichter

As previously announced here, the U.S. Department of Energy has issued US$338 million in funding for geothermal research projects.
As part of that, the state of Oregon has received about US$40 million in stimulus funding for geothermal projects in southern Oregon.
“Nearly $30 million will go toward work near Newberry Crater south of Bend: $25 million on power-producing technology involving water injected into the earth (AltaRock Energy) and about $4.5 million on technology to locate geothermal reservoirs.
Other grants are near Glass Buttes east of Bend, $4.4 million to locate faults in geothermal reservoirs; Paisley, $2 million for power plant and aquaculture projects; Adel, $1.8 million for testing drilling techniques; and at Klamath Falls, $1 million for Oregon Institute of Technology and $800,000 for the city.”
