The visitor center of the geothermal power plant at Hellisheidi, Iceland, is open again for visitors. The plant is probably one of the best showcases of geothermal power generation world-wide.
With saving efforts at Icelandic utility Reykjavik Energy in the last few months, one of the greatest tourist destinations in Iceland, and probably one of the best showcases for geothermal power generation, the Hellisheidi Geothermal Power Plant was temporarily closed for visitors.
Now a new group has taken over the visitor center and reopened the plant to visitors wanting to experience how geothermal energy is utilized in Iceland.
Over the years, I have taken so many people to the plant on visits and they were all taken away by it. So it is fantastic to see the site open again and open to the public.
