Policies, regulations and incentives play an important role in helping to foster geothermal development. How crucial they really have been in the past 14 years was content of a recent presentation I gave and talk about in this article.
The Geothermal Development Facility (GDF) was launched during an event at UNFCCC COP 20. This video by IISD Reporting Services highlights key components of the facility including the Mitigation Risk Fund and the Technical Assistance Forum.
The project seeks to catalyze the development of geothermal energy as an affordable, low-carbon and base-load technology that could help limit the growth of the region’s greenhouse gas emissions in Latin America.
