A consortium lead by German Rödl & Partner has been contracted to prepare a risk mitigation fund for geothermal development in Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru. The fund will be established by the Central American Development Bank (CAF) and the German development bank KfW.
The geothermal development joint venture Infinergeo SpA in Chile has been split between its owners, ECM Geotermia and Transmark Chile, a 100% daughter of Transmark Renewable Products. Transmark will continue development of the license of Licancura III.
Alterra Power Corp. completes another joint venture with Energy Development Corp. (EDC) from the Philippines, on the remaining geothermal development assets in Peru, giving EDC a 70 percent interest in the asset portfolio.
In its recent electricity plan, the country of Colombia clearly neglects opportunities provided by its geothermal resources, but it seems other renewables than hydro don´t seem to be of much interest in the country.
Geotermia Andina reportts that first tests after a gradient drilling campaign show positive results for the Los Despoblados geothermal project in Valle del Cura, San Juan Province in Argentina. The company now seeks strategic partners for the development.
