The investors vying for Unified Leyte include SPC Power Corporation, Therma Central Visayas Inc., Trans-Asia Oil and Energy Development Corporation and Unified Leyte Geothermal Energy Inc.

Following last week’s announcement by the the Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Management (PSALM), local news state that four groups are interested in running the day-today affairs of the Unified Leyte Geothermal Power Plants.
The four investor groups have accomplished the requirements to bid in the selection and appointment of an Independent Power Producer Administrator for the bulk energy of the power plant complex, according to PSALM.
The investors vying for Unified Leyte include SPC Power Corporation, Therma Central Visayas Inc., Trans-Asia Oil and Energy Development Corporation and Unified Leyte Geothermal Energy Inc.
“These investor groups have previously participated in PSALM’s previous bidding exercises, and some of them have actually won, so we are quite happy with the turnout of prospective bidders,” PSALM President and CEO Emmanuel R. Ledesma Jr. said.
PSALM will have a pre-bid conference for the four prospective bidders on May 6. The bidding and bid evaluation for the Unified Leyte Geothermal Power is on August 12.
Coal Asia Holdings Inc. and Masinloc Power Partners Co. initially showed interest to bid for Unified Leyte Geothermal Power but chose not to pursue the next stage of the bidding process which is the submission of Confidentiality Agreement and payment of participation fee.
Unified Leyte Geothermal Power is composed of the 125-megawatt Upper Mahiao, 232.5-megawatt Malitbog, and 180-megawatt Mahanagdong power plants, and the 51-megawatt optimization plants.
It is covered by power purchase agreements between the National Power Corporation and the Energy Development Corporation
