Iceland and its geothermal prowess were showcased in a recent seminar in Japan.

The Japan Times recently covered a series of “educational programs promoting eco-friendly lifestyles” at the end of the previous month of March in Tokyo, and in this particular seminar showcased Iceland and geothermal power with its central role for the country.

Geothermal energy comes in various and distinctive ways in Iceland, from tourism to energy generation, house and district heating just to mention a few and according to the article, “Iceland’s total economic benefit from geothermal power was calculated to be about $480-830 million, which equaled four to six percent of the country’s gross domestic product in 2010.”

Japan having also great potential in geothermal energy development looks at Iceland’s success story and hopes to give the industry a push in the coming years.
