The plant will be built in the northwestern city of Meshkin Shahr and is expected to go online in two years.

News from Azerbaijan mention that Iran has selected an undisclosed Italian firm to supply the turbines for the country’s first geothermal power plant expected to go online in less than two years.

Details are scarce, but it seems like the plant will be built in the northwestern city of Meshkin Shahr. This probably refers to the Sabalan Geothermal project that has been underway for the last 10 years.

In a country completely dependant on fossil fuels, renewables are a great way to reduce carbon emissions, end reliance on imported fuel and create jobs.
