The auction for development licenses for new geothermal fields in Mexico is likely to happen in August 2015.

It is expected that in July, the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) of Mexico will be assigned which field are available geothermal development and that the Round One will likely happen in August 2015.

Cesar Hernandez, Undersecretary of Electricity explained that those fields that called for CFE and there are no biddings for “may be requested by any particular providing that they have the financial ability to do so” he said.

He said that for the next 15 years, an investment accounting around 2 billion pesos is expected.
