Abstracts for the 11th UK Geothermal Symposium to be held at Piccadilly, London are being accepted until the 31st of July 2024.

Abstracts are currently being accepted for the 11th UK Geothermal Symposium, which will be taking place on 11-13 November 2024 at the Burlington House in Piccadilly, London. Virtual attendance via Zoom will also be possible.

Abstracts will be accepted until the 31st of July 2024. Abstracts can be submitted via this link. More details on the event are available on the official event website.

Registration for the event will open after the call for abstracts phase.

The 11th UK Geothermal Symposium aims to highlight the technical and scientific advances being made across the spectrum of geothermal exploration and development. Broad themes of the event may include but are not limited to:

  • shallow geothermal and heat pumps;
  • minewater heat;
  • subsurface geological studies;
  • heat and power from granites; and
  • case studies from the UK and abroad.

Additional areas of research, such as the development of innovative technologies and solutions, mineral extraction from geothermal waters, and the potential environmental impacts of geothermal energy, are also welcomed.

A series of workshops and classes is being planned as part of the conference, where industry experts will discuss some of the most pressing hurdles facing the geothermal sector today. These engaging sessions will explore challenges such as high initial costs, regulatory barriers, and the complexities of drilling. Attendees will gain valuable insights into innovative solutions and strategies to overcome these obstacles, paving the way for the future growth and sustainability of geothermal energy. More information on these sessions will be available in the coming months.

It remains an exciting time for the geothermal industry in the UK and this three-day symposium aims to showcase all aspects of research and development in this emerging industry.
