Enel Green Power wins auction for 20 MW geothermal power project in Tuscany/ Italy in an uncontested bid as part of up to 800 MW of renewable energy development.

The Energy Agency of Italy, Gestore dei Servizi Energetici (GSE) release a list of projects that won offtake contracts in a renewable energy auction for up to 870 MW of power generation capacity. The auction was launched in June 2016.

Under the auction fixed-price power purchase agreements (PPAs) have been awared for up to 800 MW of onshore wind farms, and 30 MW for an offshore wind project, 20 MW of biomass capacity and a 19.8-MW geothermal power plant.

The tender of the agency attracted proposals for onshore wind development of up to 2,083 MW and the successful bids at a tariff of EUR 66/ MWh ($69/ MWh – or around $0.069/ kWh).

The bids for offshore wind, biomass and geothermal projects faced no competition. Details about the results can be found in the table published by GSE (pdf).

The geothermal bid was won by Enel Green Power for a 20 MW geothermal project in Tuscany.

According to art. 15 of the Decree, the lists will be subject to sliding as a result of failure to establish the definitive deposit in art. 16, paragraph 2, in the terms indicated, and waivers submitted by successful bidders within 22 June 2017.
