The Western Governors' Association of the U.S. is asking for responses to a survey that will help shape the strategies under the Heat Beneath Our Feet bipartisan initiative.

The Western Governors’ Association (WGA) led by Colorado Governor Jared Polis is inviting input for a survey that will help design the Heat Beneath Our Feet Initiative. The survey can be accessed via this link.

This survey is intended to help WGA design the initiative by identifying:

  • Priority issues for gubernatorial leadership, including regulatory, technical, economic, and workforce opportunities for states to support the development of geothermal projects;
  • Best practices and case studies for geothermal energy development;
  • Federal policy issues for potential WGA advocacy;
  • Individuals or organizations interested in participating in workshops and other opportunities for engagement; and
  • Current markets for technologies and companies.

Heat Beneath Our Feet (HBOF) is a bipartisan initiative that will examine opportunities for and barriers to the increased development and deployment of geothermal technologies and evaluate strategies to scale geothermal technologies in the Western states of the U.S. Through the HBOF initiative, WGA will evaluate geothermal energy technology development in the Western States and assess the potential benefits it would offer.

“As the incoming Chair of the bipartisan Western Governors Association, I am excited to establish the Heat Beneath Our Feet as my initiative because geothermal energy is an opportunity to save people money, boost local economies, and help us achieve 100% renewable energy in Colorado by 2040,” said Gov. Polis during the announcement of the initiative.
