Ormat soliciting bids for geothermal power capacity in CA

Ormat Nevada is solicitating bids for up to 26 MW of geothermal power generation capacity for its Heber geothermal plant in California.

Ormat Technology through Ormat Nevada has issued a solicitation for bids for the purchase of capacity and energy generation from its repowered 26 MW Heber 2 Geothermal Project in Heber, California.  In May of this year, the company announced a 15 MW PPA for Heber South.

Heber 2 is a water-cooled, binary geothermal facility that has been in operation since 1993 and is currently undergoing a repowering project with a COD of January 1, 2023.

The repowering project will include a complete replacement of the Ormat Energy Converter units and will increase the capacity of the project from 12 to 26 MW without increasing the project’s footprint. The project will also retain its existing onsite connection and transmission rights within the CAISO grid. Ormat retains ownership of the project, which it self-financed.

The project will be sold under the special purpose entity OrHeber 2 LLC and is a PCC1 REC eligible facility with a 95 percent capacity factor. The buyer will receive all available environmental attributes and capacity rights associated with the facility and energy output as a bundled product.

The deadline to submit questions is 6 August.

Please submit all questions to abartosz@ormat.com.

All questions will be answered by 13 August. In order to bid into this RFB, please submit Attachment A_Heber 2 Offer Form to abartosz@ormat.com and info@ormat.com no later than 5:00 PM August 20. Ormat expects to notify its shortlist of buyers by 10 September.

For details, such as the offer form and further details see the documents shared via the official note on the Ormat website linked below.
