The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) and the Geothermal Resources Council held a successful workshop last week in San Diego, California.
The Workshop on High-Temperature and Corrosion in Drilling and Production also explored synergies of oil and gas with geothermal energy.
Held 21–22 March, the event was attended by more than 70 professionals. The event featured seven technical sessions with discussions on the following topics:
- High temperature drilling techniques,
- Well completion technologies,
- Cements and casing materials for extreme conditions,
- Borehole measurement and reservoir characterization tools,
- Corrosion and scaling challenges – innovative chemical application,
- Optimized production equipment and conditions,
- Power generation options; processes and materials,
- Downstream scale control and mineral extraction techniques,
- Advances in H2S abatement,
- Reinjection well technologies.
