Tender for Chachimbiro, Ecuador geothermal consultancy enters prequalification
The planned tender for consultancy services for development of the Chachimbiro geothermal power project in Ecuador has entered the prequalification stage.
The tender process for consultancy services for the construction of a geothermal power plant at the Chachimbiro site in Ecuador has entered the prequalification stage. Applications for this step will be accepted until 4 January 2025.
The Ecuadorian Government, through the Electric Corporation of Ecuador (CELEC), is seeking to engage with a qualified consultant to carry out the engineering, support/provision/supervision/inspection of drilling services, construction and commissioning of a wellhead plant of up to 5 MW. It is expected that at the end of the service, all the documentation and planning will be available to contract and execute the construction phase of the 50 MW geothermal plant.
The project will be supported by the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA), will have an Official Development Assistance (ODA) credit to carry out the contracting of Consulting Services for Phase I: Field Development of the Chachimbiro Geothermal Project.
The prequalification stage follows up on a previous call for Expressions of Interest announced earlier this year.
Interested parties may download the registration form via this link. The filled-out form must then be submitted to MAT.planificacionexpansion@celec.gob.ec to request for the prequalification documents. No payment is required to request for said documentation.
The Bidding Process is subject to JICA’s “Guidelines for the Procurement of Consultants under ODA Loans from Japan.” Earlier this year, a loan agreement was signed between Ecuador and Japan that grants a credit of $43 million to Ecuador to be used for the development of the Chachimbiro geothermal project.
