Elif Yener, the company's former CFO, has been appointed as the first female CEO of Turkish geothermal developer and operator Zorlu Energy.

Elif Yener, who has been the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) since 2019, has been appointed as the new CEO of Zorlu Enerji, part of Zorlu Holding. Ibrahim Sinan Ak, who has served as the Sector President of the Zorlu Energy Group—including Zorlu Enerji Elektrik Üretim AS—since December 1, 2016, has stepped down from his role as CEO after 8 years.

With this appointment, Elif Yener becomes the first female CEO of Turkish geothermal developer and operator Zorlu Enerji.

Zorlu Holding CEO Cem Köksal expressed his gratitude to Ibrahim Sinan Ak and stated: “I would like to thank Ibrahim Sinan Ak, with whom we have worked together since 2000 and who has made significant contributions to the transformation of Zorlu Enerji. I wish him success in his career.”

Who is Elif Yener?

Elif Yener graduated from Bogaziçi University’s Industrial Engineering Department in 2004 and began her career in project finance at Denizbank. After completing an MBA program at Columbia University in 2011, she joined Zorlu Holding.

At Zorlu Enerji, she held roles as Strategy and Business Development Manager, Group Finance Manager, and Finance Director before becoming CFO in 2019.

Yener is also a member of the Integrated Reporting Network of Turkey (ERTA) and a signatory of the UN Global Compact CFO Coalition’s Integrated SDG Investment and Finance Principles. She is married and has a daughter.
