The sustainability practices by Philippine Energy Development Corp. (EDC) are seen as a good practice and model for Indonesian geothermal development by WWF in a recent report.
Last week following the publication of a WWF report on Indonesia’s geothermal ambitions and development program, Philippine based Energy Development Corp. (EDC) proudly announced it recently “presented its geothermal story” in round table discussions held in Indonesia.
The WWF recently chose the sustainability practices by EDC to promote geothermal as the best energy option for Indonesia and said that the practices in the Philippines would be the best for Indonesia to address their current issues around geothermal development.
Geothermal energy as a renewable energy source is capable of sustaining national energy needs in the long run due to, among others, its low emission value,? its requirement for less space than other energy sources and its reduction of dependency on fossil fuel as a source of electricity,” Nyoman Iswarayoga, WWF-Indonesia director of climate change and energy, said during the Round Table Discussion.
