EGEC: "Geothermal is baseload but can also provide ancillary services to stabilise the grid".

The European Geothermal Energy Council (EGEC) has recently published a short factsheet covering the role of geothermal energy and its potential as a pilar in the future of the EU’s grid stability.

Renewable energy is growing steadily and due to its volatile nature measures need to be put in place to avoid grid malfunctions and poor service and coverage.

As stated in the report, “Geothermal is baseload but can also provide ancillary services to stabilise the grid”.

This fact sheet will tell you how geothermal electricity can be crucial to the stabilisation of the grid, being both baseload and flexible.
